Much to Kendell’s delight, she and Pauline wound up actually enjoying the day in London. They rode the London Eye, did some shopping, and of course took part in the local cuisine. Pauline scheduled a tour of the palace for another day, something she was quite excited for. Kendell had a wonderful time exploring London with Pauline, and frankly, the woman was a hoot. With all of her silly antics and absurd commentary, Pauline made all of the sightseeing much more amusing than Kendell thought possible. Despite all of the fun, however, there was still the concern of ensuring that Pauline was able to leave the country again in time for her prescheduled flight, which was coming up in only a few days. Kendell supposed she felt such a strong urge to help with woman simply because she had paid for everything since arriving in Europe, apart from her new clothes. The woman was the most generous human being Kendell had ever had the pleasure of knowing, and she wanted to try to pay her back in any way that she could.

After heading back to the hotel for a few hours for some much-needed rest, Kendell arose from a brief nap with the intentions of trying to come up with a good next move regarding the case. She recalled the actors telling her that after a night’s showing, they would all head to a nearby tavern for drinks to celebrate a successful day in the theater. Kendell left her bedroom and headed into the shared space of the hotel suite, and she saw that the woman had arose from her nap before her. She was sitting on the large, comfy couch with her feet propped up on the coffee table, Dot in her lap while she watched a bit of television.

“I had a thought,” Kendell said, alerting the woman to her presence in the room.

“That’s a dangerous thing to have,” Pauline teased. “What is your thought, dear?”

“Would you want to go to an English pub tonight for some authentic local cuisine?” she asked.

“Ooh, sounds lovely! We should order some fish and chips!” she exclaimed. “There are so many pubs around here. Did you have one in particular in mind?”

“Yes, actually,” Kendell said. “The one down the street from the Globe Theater. I was thinking that we could head over there around the time their last showing of Macbeth gets out for tonight and see if we can get any of the actors alone to talk. Maybe we can come up with some additional questions to ask them all about Matt. Now that we know he had a fiancée, I know I definitely want to try to get the scoop on exactly what sort of relationships he had with all of the women in the cast. Alfred made him sound like such a ladies’ man, so I want to see if we can find out if any of the women knew he had a fiancée.”

“Oh, I agree,” Pauline said. “That man was just too handsome to not have at least one of those ladies after him.
